In taking this picture of a Maiko and making it symmetrical, I am, in essence, removing her positive or negative side and disturbing her natural balance, and by removing one side I am removing both sides. I unified the pieces in a woodcut print.

- I started this blog in order to document in some way, my journey as an artist. I find expression through printmaking, process began to bring something out in my drawing. I travelled to Japan to extend my understanding of process and technique and of a world unknown to me. They say the Pacific Ocean has no memory, just a constant recycling and putting down of layers. a world hidden behind another, a memory lost in history. As an artist I am interested in transforming existing process and techniques, recycling, transforming or changing something existing into something else. Building structure or revealing existing structure.
